While the news isn’t always good, last week it had a beacon of hope in the form of stylish ideas for the holidays! SWAK was featured in a segment about “Style at Every Size” hosted by fashion experts, Marcy Guevara and Stuart Brazell. The segment on KCAL 9’s news at noon featured various trends for every body type with models of all sizes and in styles of all types and price. We love seeing style presented in this way and are honored to have been featured! Joy Nash, plus size actress and friend of SWAK, represented us with grace and class in the emerald Harlow and looked absolutely stunning. Green is truly a wonderful color for redheads and Joy looked ravishing. Our Harlow Plus Size Lace Dress is now available in superb holiday colors, just in time for the holidays. Joy’s look was completed with fabulous black bow stilettos from Just Fab & lacy black accessories to go with it. Harlow has a perfectly low neckline for showing a little skin and adding a fab statement necklace. If you are looking for some holiday style inspiration check out the segment and get ready to look party ready this season!

Actress Gabourey Sidibe was recently photographed wearing our Joan Maxi Dress as she prepped for the 2014 Emmy Awards. Sidibe was primping at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood when she donned our dress to relax and prepare for her big day. Since she has gone on the record various times citing purple as her favorite color, we had to send her our latest rendition of the SWAK fave! We love seeing a starlet like Gabby Sidibe in one of our frocks. We love supporting and watching stars like her, Melissa McCarthy and Rebel Wilson. Are you an American Horror Story fan? The themes are a little dark, but the show is done so well and is entirely intriguing. Sidibe is also slated to star in Fox’s new show “Empire” directed by Lee Daniels of “Precious” fame. If you don’t already own Joan, consider adding this grab and go maxi to your arsenal. The cut is supremely flattering with a simple tie belt and a beautiful v-neck that accentuates one’s decolletage. Joan is also popular for her sleeves which are perfect for any season. This plus size dress is also available in an exotic turquoise, as well as black. We’d love to see Gabby in more SWAK! Who would you like to see rock your favorite trendy plus size basics brand? Let us know! Already following Gabby on Twitter? Follow us at @SWAKDesigns!

We’ve been dying to dish about the day that SWAK was taken over by David Tutera and his team to style Tanisha Thomas for her “Divorce Party” on his new show "CELEBrations." When we got the call to possibly dress the former bad girl and shoot at the SWAK office we were excited and nervous at the same time. On one hand, we wanted to experience a day in the life of a reality series, but at the same time we were afraid Tanisha might “pop off” as she tends to do. The day of the shoot the crew began to trickle in and transformed our shoot area in our warehouse into a set for David’s meeting with Tanisha. David Tutera and Tanisha had gotten off to a rocky start, so when Tanisha arrived with champagne in hand and her entourage trailing behind her, we had a feeling things were going to get crazy. David’s people hustled and bustled prepping the scene and looking through wardrobe options for Tanisha. Tanisha was supposed to choose a party dress for her celebration, but as you know our strengths are affordable trendy plus size basics. We have some sequins coming in for the holidays but only had our typical wares and a few samples the day of the shoot. We let the crew do their thing and finally David arrived. He is exactly how you imagine he would be. He was stylish and all business, ready to get in and out. The shoot began and our resident stage mom, Kristie, was on hand to help with Tanisha’s changes and supervise the goings on. Things got heated as David and Tanisha battled over style, lifestyle and his adamant denial of calling her party a “divorce party.” For a relatively quiet office, everyone was a buzz and having a great time, despite the diva’s demands, or rather divas’. To see the entire episode check your local listing’s for David Tutera’s CELEBrations on WeTV. Don’t have cable watch it here? As a teaser... here's a little clip!

We’re thrilled to be featured in Allison Teng’s latest piece for “People Style Watch.” If you’ve read our blog in the past you’ve met this fierce fashionista. Allison’s style is all about embracing your shape and wearing the trends that work for you. In the article she features our Pretty Cami layered under a fab printed cardi and over a sexy pencil skirt mini. Allison says of the top, “The SWAK Designs cami has a really loose, flowy silhouette. I know, I know, some people say that curvier girls should stay away from excess fabric, but I think it’s all in the styling and proportion.” We agree and love Allison’s advice. Daring to break the rules is something we love to encourage our customers to do! If you’ve never considered this plus size tank, order one and learn why customers rave over this comfortable and easy layering piece. Read more from Allison on her blog and be inspired. Allison proves that curvy girls can be on trend, complement their curves and do it all on a budget. It’s thanks to bloggers like her that fierce fashion for the plus size masses is trending and on the rise. Keep an eye on our Pinterest and Instagram for more inspo and remember to tag us in your stylish SWAK looks! Read Allison's article on People Style Watch.

Bloggers serve a very cool purpose in the world of fatshion. Without their honest reviews, realistic/average bodies and fun ways to style, we’d be lost. Blogger Mary Demetra dared to bare her curves in our silhouette skimming plus size clubwear from Size Appeal for her blog, “Curvy is Beautiful.” Curvy IS beautiful and, with the constant influx of size zero women in the mainstream media, we can’t get enough of the curvy beauties who share their snapshots with us. We love when everyday women rock their bodies, confidently, and don looks that aren't typical for women on the plus size spectrum. Mary is inspiring, and is full of brilliant ideas for styling her looks and breaking the rules. If you follow her on YouTube or read her blog, you’ll see her “Glittery Odyssey” world. This look is fierce and fabulously unapologetic. Though we had some mixed reactions when we posted Mary’s pics to Facebook, you were overwhelmingly into her look. Whether you’re a 1X or a 6X, at SWAK, we believe YOU should choose which styles and trends are for you and which aren’t. Be inspired to break out of the box, like Mary, and flirt with bodycons and spaghetti straps. Who says skinny girls should have all the fun? The gorgeous ruching on this dress is incredibly flattering, and you can tell that Mary feels phenomenal. Bonus? This dress is super comfortable too, can be worn with or without shapewear, and still look fab. Plus size bodycon dresses are super popular right now and so is the midriff trend. There are certainly thresholds to which each of us feels comfortable but, regardless of size, you should have access to trends you crave and the ability to at least try them if you dare. “Carpe Diem,” as Mary says, and own every curve on your body today.

We were delighted to be mentioned on Love to’s recent article about “Plus Size Casual Wedding Dresses.” The advice site featured our Eternity Convertible Maxi Dress as a good option for a laid back bride and we couldn't agree more! The site called the plus size convertible dress “ideal for the bride who wants to wear her dress again, since the casual style is practical for a variety of situations. It's also perfect if you want to leave your style options open, because you can wear the dress several different ways.” For a courthouse or beach side wedding, we encourage brides to jazz up their ensemble with fabulous jewelry, killer hair and makeup, and serious shoes. Maybe the blue every bride must wear could be in the shoes, with this dress, a la Carrie Bradshaw from “Sex and the City.” What is wonderful about the Eternity Convertible Dress is that it is incredibly versatile. If you’re concerned about how to wrap the dress, we have lots of tutorials on our YouTube channel that give step by step instructions for donning the wrap of your choice. From skirt styles, to one shouldered, and tube, there are over 15 different ways to wrap your convertible dress. The simplicity of the Eternity Convertible Dress is also a huge draw. If you’re into minimalism, this dress offers the basics that won’t have you drowning in glitter or fluff. For more ideas, visit our black and white plus size dress section and take a peek at the other options we offer, like our Kara Lace Dress and Hailey Eyelet Dress. Visit for more style and beauty advice. Until next time, cheers to stylish and marital bliss!

Passion Jonesz has managed to collect throngs of fans and it’s no surprise. The plus size YouTube star and mommy-diva is incredibly stylish and relatable, making her the go-to girl for tutorials, style hauls and more. Passion recently featured SWAK’s new plus size clubwear line, Size Appeal, on her YouTube channel. With the launch of Size Appeal it was obvious that Passion was a natural fit as a brand ambassador. Passion produced an incredible plus size summer dress haul in her signature style and as always, offers authentic advice and opinion on the various pieces. Pairing our sultry frocks with gorgeous clutches and sky high heels, Passion demonstrates just how versatile the garments are and gives tips for styling them in chic and sexy looks. With a gorgeously curvy body and standing at only 5’6, Passion proves she’s an authority on all things style by providing tips and tricks for showing your shape, creating a flattering silhouette and elongating the body. She urges her viewers to creative with belts and explore incorporating new trends and hot colors into your wardrobe. Though the YouTube sensation is just over 21, her tone and demeanor demand respect and attention. When asked about being “plus size”, Passion says, “Plus size is the woman who does not fit societies meaning of beauty. Do not get me wrong all shapes and sizes of women are beautiful. However, we have been shown only a slimmer size is the vision of beauty. I believe every woman deserves the right of being beautiful and meaningful to this society we live in.” It’s this attitude about her body and beauty that make Passion such an interesting and accessible figure. If you aren’t one of her adoring fans already, check out any of her videos and join hundreds of thousands of curvy women following her advice and role-modeling.

Kelly Augustine is one of our favorite bloggers and a style maven to keep an eye on. The New York native brings a unique eye to the plus-size style scene with her authenticity and ease. Kelly can always be seen rocking fabulous outfits, enhancing her curves and representing for curvy girls across the country. When Kelly asked to feature our Annabelle Maxi Dress on her plus size style blog, we were thrilled. A fan of prints, Kelly looks amazing in this purplish tribal print. We love the way she wore the versatile and convertible plus size maxi in a one shouldered style. This is one of the most multi-faceted dresses on our site right now, with the exception of our Eternity Convertible Dress. As you can see, Kelly also tucked in the normally drapey fabric so she could have more freedom when dancing at the festival she was attending. Maxis are such a great option for looking put together while staying cool and being comfortable. Something about the long frocks also provides a touch of glam to any day. Annabelle is also available in black, which makes it a trusty go to when a little black dress is the only thing that will do. With the potential to be worn in several ways, you can play with all of Annabelle’s options at your leisure. Show some skin with a strapless style by simply pulling your arms over the neckline; no fuss, no muss. This dress is easily converted into an off the shoulder style or ideal for those looking for a little more coverage on their arms. The flutter sleeves are subtly flirty and won’t be stifling as summer temps heat up. For more style inspiration and to catch up with Kelly check her out at .

If you read our last post on Kimberlee Postell, you KNOW she’s a diva. We are obsessed with her styling of our Tamara Ruched Dress and impressed with how different she could make the two looks appear. In one, the teacher dons a white blazer for a sophisticated and classy look. In another, she dares to bare her curves in the sultry number she says goes fine sans Spanx. We love seeing our clothes on every day women, and giving you the opportunity to get to know them better. Our new plus size clubwear line has slowly made its entrance into the plus size fashion world, and we are excited to have bloggers and customers welcome it into their wardrobes. This example is perfect for demonstrating how different one dress can look. People in the fashion industry often overuse the “day to night” scenario. The reality is that some clothes are for day and few can be translated to night; however, some clothes like this plus size bodycon show you that it can look distinct, even if the look is only for the evening. The blazer worn on her plus size fashion blog is perfect for a chic and sleek look for drinks downtown with the girls, but for date night or an evening of dancing, you might opt for the curve hugging frock on its own. We also love how Kimberlee belted the dress to accentuate her figure even more. The little details add a lot to this look. For some trendy plus size belts, check out our accessories page. Have you tried any of our Size Appeal garments yet? This image shows that you don’t have to be a size zero to rock a fitted dress and work your curves. Catch up with Kimberlee on her site for more ideas on how to wear your plus size trends.

The owner of popular plus-size site SKORCH Magazine and Portland Fashion Week’s newest director, Jessica Kane, looks fabulously chic in SWAK. Jessica is one of those rare birds that has the ability to make K-mart look like Cavali. She’s been training style wannabes for years on how to rule the plus-size world, brand businesses and plan events fit for fashion royalty. With a knack for being good at pretty much anything, we love seeing this long-time friend and supporter of SWAK don our duds with her chic style and unique perspective. As a busy mom and working entrepreneur, Jessica is the voice that begs to be heard from on the style scene. How does she do it so effortlessly? Maybe it’s intrinsic; whatever makes it’s possible Jessica is one to keep an eye on for everyday inspiration in your own style journey. She recently posted a picture of herself in our Lulu Chiffon Skirt and looked simply stylish. With trendy accessories and a bold graphic tee, Jessica turned our delicate skirt into an edgy centerpiece for a fab look. In her recent blog post about SWAK, she featured our new clubwear line, Size Appeal. It’s amazing how different people can make garments look, and how simple styling can take something and make it sophisticated and classy. Jessica paired our Tamara Ruched Dress with pointy heels and fab jewelry for a vintage-inspired plus size pin up vibe. Her chic bob is giving us a little CHICAGO and a lot of oomph. Read Jessica’s thoughts on the versatile dress here on her blog, Life & Style of Jessica, and keep up with her online @jessica_kane. Love the look? Shop Size Appeal now.

Monique Frausto is a veteran blogger and true professional, often recognized as a leader within the plus size community. What some don’t know, is that Monique is also the founder of Blogs by Latinas. A true inspiration, this mover and shaker is rocking it as a female entrepreneur in the ever-changing world of technology and media. As we recently relaunched our clubwear line, Size Appeal, we looked to leaders within the blogosphere to try out the sexy duds and give us their thoughts. When Monique agreed, we were thrilled. If you aren’t familiar with the fiesty fashionista, get to know her at . Monique recently wore our Devin Maxi Dress and proclaimed it perfect for balancing more than one event per day. With the addition of a cami, Monique opted for a little more modesty and made the dress’ plunging neckline more her style. She also added, “ ...when I got a little chilly, I threw on a black silk cropped motorcycle jacket. I want to mention that this dress was über comfortable and cool.” Monique mused about how the dress took her from one event to another effortlessly. We love the versatility of this dress and plus size maxis in general. With flats and a big floppy hat, this look can be worn on the beach or to a backyard barbeque, or pair with a statement necklace and sky high wedges for a great date night look. For more plus size style inspiration, read the rest of Monique’s post “Switching It Up with Size Appeal.”

Emmie Sandford is a staple in the plus size industry. The longtime blogger recently got her hands on some SWAK, via Gwynnie Bee, and is loving and boasting all over the web of her fab finds. We’re honored to be considered one of her more recent faves and love seeing the size 3X fitness and style authority don our styles. Many of you may remember the sweet Southerner from her “Skinny Emmie” days. If you haven’t met her, get ready to be wowed by the very relatable Kentuckian who’s the girl-next-door - with all the best shopping & fitness secrets. We love that even after losing over 100 pounds, the self-proclaimed “fitness seeker,” changed her blog namesake to more accurately represent herself and claim her space in the blogosphere. Emmie is truly genuine and authentic which is most likely why she’s collected throngs of followers who seek her advice on everything from life, to love and, of course, plus size style. Emmie can be seen sporting our Hailey Eyelet Dress in another blog post from earlier this spring and has said more than once that she is obsessed with our Classic Denim Jacket. Most recently, Emmie snapped some shots of herself in one of our plus size maxi dresses. Emmie called our plus size maxi dress Erin: “ super comfortable with a fun print that feels reminiscent of the 80′s.” At 5’10 the length was perfect for Emmie and paired with our “super versatile” denim jacket, we’d give this look a 10. With most plus size models and bloggers being a size 1 or 2, it’s refreshing and wonderful to see a strong, confident, and beautiful babe like Emmie. Keep thriving, Miss Thing! To catch up on everything Emmie, visit her website & find her @authemmie.

If you watch The Hallmark Channel you might have caught a glimpse of one of our newest styles on the catwalk of the popular daytime show. That’s right, our Size Appeal line made its television debut! Plus size stylist Reah Norman was featured during a segment about plus size style and opted for our Devin Maxi Dress. We love the way she styled the look on Rosie Mercado, who you may recognize as a familiar face around the SWAK site. Rosie looks fab in this fierce print, which looks amazing on her golden skin tone. Reah added an anorak jacket by Calvin Klein to the tribal look and a cute fedora to complete the perfect summer outfit. We can totally see Rosie, or any of you, rocking this look beachside, for a little fun in the sun. When it comes to styling a look like this, it is important to choose three key pieces that the outfit will revolve around. Obviously here, the star of the show is our plus size maxi dress, but it's undeniable that the jacket and hat are the perfect match. A little goes a long way with a print as bold as this. With some gladiator sandals or cool wedges, this look could be a day or nighttime look that's super stylish and sexy. Notice the detailing on the back of the dress on our site. We think you’ll dig the knotted detailing. Check out the rest of our Size Appeal line at and catch up with Reah at or @reahnorman on Twitter and Instagram. Love this look? Make it your own and send us your snapshot! In fact, tag the pic #sizeappealsexy and you'll automatically be entered to win $200 to our site (now through July 1, 2014).

Kimberlee Postell is a hidden gem within the plus size blogoshpere. The high school English teach from North Carolina moonlights as a fashion blogger and is a phenomenal fashionista. The fact that she’s not a regular on lists of “bloggers to watch” is a travesty, but her time to shine has come. Her style is unlike most of her peers. Polished, put together, ladylike and pristine, probably because she’s ACTUALLY taking her looks from the classroom to cocktails like so many blogs often suggest. Kimberlee brings an unusual maturity to the table, through her confidence and the way she portrays herself. If you haven’t heard of her site The Natural Fashionista, you must visit it for style inspiration, great outfit posts and tips on everything from hair to how to deal with being a big girl in a skinny world. While Kimberlee’s style is often youthful and fun, you can count on seeing her rock gorgeous dresses and sophisticated styles. We were thrilled to see her feature our Harlow Lace Dress in a recent post about what she wore on Easter. With Louboutins, a simple black belt, and a touch of a modern day Betty Flinstone, we love how she added her signature and a bit of luxury to the look. Kimberlee says of our Harlow, “I received the most lovely compliments while wearing this dress today, and that always makes you feel awesome. A dress like this just brings the girl out of you! It is perfect for almost any occasion that would require you to dress up a bit. I love the length, the shape, and how comfortable I felt in it.” See her post for yourself here: .

One part Kim Kardashian and one part Beyonce, Mia Taylor truly is a boss. From the moment we saw her on Instagram, we could see that she was a star. Mia has that “it factor” people wish they could bottle up and buy. Mia isn’t afraid to own her curves in tight bodycons and rock the hottest dancefloor. She owns her figure and plays up her shape, making her a curvy vixen you can’t take your eyes off. Quite true to her Twitter and Instagram handle @miatheboss, Mia owns her body and we love it. If you follow her, you can see that she dominates the nightlife scene wherever her travels take her and is unapologetic about her views, ideas and style. The diva has built quite a following online and it’s no surprise. If you aren’t already a loyal fan, you’ll see that her boisterous personality pops off the page with every energetic post. Recently, Mia wore our Tamara Ruched Dress from Size Appeal to an awards ceremony and absolutely sizzled. Mia’s style is uniquely her own and she isn’t afraid to flaunt is. When asked what her best style advice is she says, “ Never think you're too fat to pull a look off.” We love that brazen attitude and know that this belief is authentic to how Mia sees herself and the world. Mia styled our multicolored bodycon with suede peeptoe platforms, long jet black hair and bright tangerine lipstick. Read Mia’s blog post on Size Appeal and check out more pictures of her in the fabulously festive frock here:

Allison Teng of Curvy Girl Chic is exactly that. A curvy girl who gets how to dress her shape and embodies chic. Whether she’s wearing Diane Von Furstenberg or something she found at a discount store, People Style Watch’s newest plus-size style correspondent knows what she is talking about. She recently wore our Lulu Chiffon Skirt and Pretty Cami and absolutely loved them. The style maven mused, “There is something so classic and refined about a slightly longer length, and nothing is as classic as a pleated skirt! In black, it's a piece you know you'll wear for years.” Allison is someone we turn to for style inspiration on a regular basis here at SWAK and you should too. Find her online at and let her help you take your style to the next level. With her fresh ideas and sweet, girlish edge, Allison is soon to become a style icon. In an industry often saturated with similar faces, we love how unique Allison is and the diversity she brings to the table. That aside, it is her sense of fashion and impeccable taste that make her someone to keep your eye on. Check out more pics of Allison in our Lulu Chiffon Skirt and follow this style queen on Instagram @curvygirlchic.

Comfy chic.” Marcy can also be found on our YouTube channel scoping out her favorite items from the SWAK site and giving you exclusive codes on them each and every week! If you don’t have Lulu you will want to get her before she sells out. The lightweight and frilly skirt won’t be available forever. Shop it here: Want to see more of Marcy’s recommendations? Read her post here:

We recently had the opportunity to work with Chante Burkett on a project and are thrilled at the outcome. Chante is a young and edgy blogger based on the east coast, who is exactly what she claims to be, curvy and chic. Chante describes her style as, “very casual, daring and chic. I like to keep things simple and I dress for my everyday lifestyle.” She brought her signature style to several SWAK staples, and was able to blend sexy, trendy, street style into a unique mix all her own. Her urban inspirations are obvious and the way she infuses her unique point of view into her shoots is incredible. We are thankful to be able to partner with such young creatives who bring new eyes to the SWAK site and expose so many to our styles. We first met Chante at Full Figured Fashion Week in 2012. She was the life of the party and the “it girl” to meet. Though Chante is a new comer as a plus size blogger, she has quickly surpassed many of her peers gaining over 100K followers online. This can most likely be attributed to her candid opinions, authentic expressions and relatable nature that give her that comfortable quality we all want in a sister or best friend. Over the course of several posts Chante featured some of her favorite items from the SWAK site including our Lulu Chiffon Skirt and Ainsley Maxi Skirt. She says of Lulu, “This skirt can be dressed up or down I chose to showcase an edgy look like so, I would wear this to dinner on a Friday night. Looking for the perfect for spring skirt? Be sure to check out SWAK's other plus size skirts, I also have my eye on Ainsley Maxi skirt.” The next time you’re looking for a little style inspiration, check out .
