3 Ways to Style Joyce

by Amanda Williams May 03, 2017

plus size blog
Our friend, Liz, of the plus size fashion blog, With Wonder and Whimsy, recently styled our Joyce Dress three different ways. We’re obsessed with how many different outfits she created! Liz said “The skater dress is a key piece in my wardrobe. The fit-and-flare silhouette lends itself to a variety of stylists and layering possibilities. This Joyce Dress is a fall style from SWAK Designs but, like most solid skater dresses, it’s wearable year-round.”

Dressed Up: Liz raves that “A skater dress is a blank canvas with infinite styling possibilities. Keep it simple and let the dress shine by wearing it as-is. The fit-and-flare silhouette makes a statement all on its own, so don’t mask it with over pieces or accessories. Instead, look for a short necklace that complements the neckline and brings a touch of glamour. Finish with a nude pump and neutral clutch for a classically chic look.”

Casual: As the weather is changing, Liz suggests “This is a great look for transitioning from winter-to-spring or summer-to-fall. Style your skater dress for cooler temperatures with a cropped jacket that still highlights your waist so as not to lose the defining feature of a fit-and-flare dress. A long tassel necklace ties the look together. Keep things casual with a chunky bootie and tote bag.”

Semi-Casual: Is it dressed up? Or is it dressed down? Liz styled this look, “For an eclectic and artsy look, opt for a neutral belt and matching sandals, but play up the color and texture with your other accessories. A chunky beaded necklace in a rainbow of colors provides a cheerful and playful contrast for the dusky teal dress and camel-colored leather. Finish your look with a textured clutch in a bold hue like this faux ostrich style in dark pink.”
