Every Office has One - Meet our Mama Bear

by Amanda Williams August 24, 2016 2 Comments

You might know her. If you don't, you'll definitely recognize her...

Meet Kristie our Operations Manager

What do you do? I wear many hats here at SWAK. I have a part in every department and my job is to make sure things are running smoothly on a day to day basis. I am the main contact for Wholesale, Bloggers, PR, Stylists, Affiliates, Model/Talent and escalated customer service issues. I handle requests from our CEO and VP when needed. I am the go-to person for questions, problems, or resolutions for staff. I am the MAMA BEAR here at SWAK. The company, its employees and our wonderful customers are very dear to me. I started here 6 years ago in the warehouse pulling orders and have grown to where I am now. It's so important for me to show our customers that we are real people just like them and we care about their needs and wants. I will interact with customers on social media and reach out to winners with good news. We are a big family here and our customers become like family too!

Where are you from? Born and raised in Los Angeles area of Southern California.

What's the one thing you can't live without? My family, son, husband, dog and a car! With my kids hectic schedule, you have to have a car in Los Angeles.

What was the biggest risk you ever took and what did you learn from it? I have always been afraid of the camera. I work very well behind the scenes. Last year, I took the risk of putting myself out there. Getting dolled up and wearing looks that I was too afraid to wear. I still get nervous and overly critical, but it's not that scary anymore. I wore shorts and even showed my arms in an Eternity Dress!! I do give the models a lot of credit. It's super hard to pose, awkward to look like you are having a blast when you feel so self-conscious and scary to see the end result...But if that one picture is helpful to someone out there, then its all worth it!

What do you do in your spare time? I don't really have a lot of spare time..but, things I love to do are being on set with my son, going to amusement parks (even though I am chicken on the roller coasters), seeing my husband's band perform, going to concerts, day trips shopping with my mom and short family trips with our dog.

What's your favorite part about working for SWAK? I love my co-workers! They are the sisters I never had! I love seeing a design come to life, from the sample to the finished product, seeing someone wearing SWAK out in public still makes me smile. This company has become a second home to me.

Describe your fashion style. What I wear daily is jeans. My style is different. I like kooky, funky, out of the box looks, LOVE-girly glam, rocker chic and my heart will always love the 90's. Almost every shoot has a totally out there look I put together. I like to see things that may not completely match, but can be pulled off. I am not afraid to style something super unexpected and I am that person, if given the time, would dress up everyday to work! And yes, I LOVE Halloween!

If you were to give us one piece of fashion advice what would it be? Don't be afraid! Try something new, put colors together that you normally don't see, and be yourself! Feel good in what you wear and wear it!! Accessorize!! Make it fun. Make sure it fits and feel good about yourself!!

Share with us your three favorite SWAK pieces. That's hard...I know everyone here will be rolling their eyes, but I have to do 3 in each category....

Every office has one and now you've met ours! We're tearing back our curtain and introducing you to our team, because we know you want to be involved. We LOVE SWAK Designs, just as much as YOU DO! Next week, we introduce you to our Warehouse Team. Until then, catch up on our curtain series by meeting our NEW Marketing Director, Production Teamand Marketing Team
